Pride in Plymouth have announced that there will be a Pride Parade through the City Centre to the FREE pride festival on Plymouth Hoe on Saturday 9th August.
This is Plymouth’s first proper parade, we have documented the flag procession that took place in 2008 as part of the event organised at the Guildhall by former group ‘Plymouth Pride Event’ this was a very short procession from the Piazza to the Guildhall.
Pride in Plymouth has announced a parade that will depart from the Jigsaw Garden (Drake Circus) at 12:15 and will make its way through the City Centre, and along Amarda Way to Plymouth Hoe.
The Plymouth LGBT Archive are looking forward to having a display on the Hoe celebrating our LGBT Heritage in the city. We are also looking forward to hearing more of your stories and capturing the history being made on the day.
The event on the Hoe will build on the success of the last two pride festivals held at Devonport Park with a similar format. However Plymouth Hoe offers one of the most stunning outdoor locations for Pride in the UK. The Stage host are Jazmin and Drag Artist Ricky-Lee White they will introduce over eight hours of live entertainment including a steel band and an Irish band.
We are looking forward to archiving and sharing the imagery from the day that the central Parade and Waterfront Pride will generate.
